There is no age group more affected by alcohol and drugs than young people. The problem affects not only the abusers but additionally their families and friends. Today more children, starting at the age of twelve, are becoming addicted to alcohol and other drugs.

In the United States and other countries, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of young people who die from overdoses. Often these deaths could have been prevented with the proper intervention. In the past ten years, the overdose death rate has more than doubled among people aged 12-25. Some areas of America have seen three- and four-fold increases in overdose death rates.
