“The youth is the hope of the future.” These words were spoken over 100 years ago by Jose Rizal, a Philippine national hero. He stressed the importance of education and a nurturing environment for his country’s youth in order to strengthen his nation. Do Rizal’s words hold up today? Are our youth globally exuberant and joyful?

When the news media reports increasing crimes, including bullying, substance abuse, and murder committed by youth, it appears that we have failed our youth. According to the International Labor Organization, “More than 64 million unemployed youth worldwide and 145 million young workers are living in poverty: youth employment remains a global challenge and a top policy concern.” High youth unemployment due, partially, to a lack of marketable skills and ineffective education systems results in many young people feeling lost, depressed, and readily turning to drugs and alcohol abuse for solace. What can be done to help our future generations become exuberant, joyful, and fulfilled?

Sadhguru helps us understand why our youth are essential in raising human conscious, a necessary vehicle for sustainability, and why it is importance to help our youth become successful, joyful future leaders. Sadhguru ends his talk with saying how everyone can gain a living experience of expansive consciousness, which is one of the keys for anyone, not just today’s youth, to being exuberant and jubilant.
