Most of us probably know the words of a handful of peace songs by heart such as John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On”. We would all agree on the words, that’s why they are classic, but to apply those words in our day-to-day reality is often times a stretch.

Ever have one of those days where wherever you go, you run into some sort of conflict? It could begin first thing in the morning with your partner over something trivial like who’s turn it is to walk the dog. Or while driving to work and being cut off by another driver who is in a hurry. Or how about that co-worker who thinks one way to approach a project, while you see it another way. So you catch up on the morning headlines, which are wrought with conflict from the ridiculous to the serious such as celebrity battles to school shootings and terrorist bombings.

We are so distracted and overwhelmed by the multitude ways that conflict manifests in our lives that the question of why conflict arises is put on the back-burner. The focus becomes on the conflict itself as opposed to asking the deeper question and delving into the “why” of conflict. So, if the question of “why” arises, then how do we start to address this in a way that matters?

Watch this short video where Sadhguru, with humor, urges us to look at how we create identities that keep us divisive and in conflict. Further, he gives us insight into how we can start to address this in a way that is relevant for us in our day-to-day life:

Share with us below your experience of conflict resolutions.
